EDINBURG, Texas — At some point, all of those close games Southern Utah was playing were going to catch up to them. For a while, it looked like Saturday would be another one of those close games. However, after a 27-13 third quarter, the Thunderbirds were on cruise control. Five players scored in double figures and SUU turned a close game into a beatdown.
Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop Scoring
21, 15, 14, 12, 10. That is the scoring output for the five Thunderbirds that were in double figures during Saturday’s game. Tomekia Whitman continued to be a force off the bench. Her 15-point performance was her third straight game scoring in double figures. Megan Jensen led the way with 21 points. Samantha Johnston, Lizzy Willamson, and Cherita Daugherty rounded out the double-figure scoring for SUU.

The Texas road trip closes with how it was supposed to start. The Thunderbirds head up to the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex for a Monday noon tilt with UT-Arlington. Originally slated for Thursday, the game was pushed back due to WACky weather in Texas. The Mavericks fell to Utah Tech earlier Saturday afternoon 87-70.
