It was another Friday night in Tooele, Utah, and the community was buzzing with excitement. This game against Jordan was no ordinary matchup as it was homecoming weekend. The Buffaloes were gearing up hard for this pivotal game. The Beetdiggers marched in with swagger and lots of energy, ready to go Buffalo hunting. The final score swung in favor of the home team with the Tooele Buffaloes winning 55-20.

The game

The Beetdiggers started off hot early. They scored the first two touchdowns, one in the first quarter, and the other at the beginning of the second, to put themselves up 14-0.

The Buffaloes decided that they had enough of Jordan’s antics, and went on to march down the field and score a touchdown of their own. About three minutes later, with just two minutes left in the first half, the Buffaloes struck again, putting the score at 13-14 going into halftime.

After halftime, Tooele came out swinging, wasting little time in scoring another touchdown, pushing the score to 19-14. The Beetdiggers decided to put together another touchdown drive. Although they were fed up, this would be their last score of the game. They took the lead 20-19 with just over four minutes left in the game.

Just one minute later, the Buffaloes began the full takeover, scoring a quick touchdown off of a 56 yard from RB Vaughn Gritzmacher. Finishing off the quarter, RB Britton Rosser punched the ball into the end zone from five yards out. The lead was extended to 34-20.

Tooele had some key turnovers to net them three touchdowns in the first three minutes of the fourth quarter. One was a run from QB Kaden Dean and the final two were from Rosser. The final nine minutes of the game, Tooele was able to get key stops and run the clock out, winning 55-20 over the Beetdiggers.

Keys to the game

The Buffaloes showed their ability to execute in the run game and create turnovers. The Buffs went 0-3 on their passes, but rushed for 326 yards, eight touchdowns, and two fumbles.

The Buffaloes and the whole Tooele community were excited for the win over Jordan, who was considered to be a solid opponent, and celebrated with fireworks. The Buffaloes are looking to ride this wave as they migrate to Murray to play the Spartans on Friday at 7 p.m.

The Beetdiggers will have to make the trek up to Park City to play against the Miners, which they’ll play on Friday at 7 p.m.
