This week in Region 10 was full of exciting matches, heartbreaking losses, and overall showcases of what high school football is all about. Around the Region, Murray beat their rival Hillcrest 31-20, Park City shut down Cottonwood 42-7, and Tooele knocked down Jordan 55-20. Stansbury had the non-region match-up this week, and got smacked 60-21 by 4A powerhouse Crimson Cliffs.

Murray vs. Hillcrest

The rivalry game between the Hillcrest Huskies and the Murray Spartans was an interesting one, to say the least. The Spartans won their first game of the season, and the Huskies are now on a six game losing streak. Hillcrest is falling apart without starting QB Anthonie Taylor.

Hillcrest gained more total yards throughout the game than Murray did. Where the difference came was the Huskies inability to keep drives alive. They could start drives just fine, but couldn’t find the end zone a whole ton.

The Huskies are looking to find an answer for the quarterback position, and are going to need to find a solution quick. Their next game, they’ll travel down to Stansbury to play the Stallions today at 7 p.m.

The Spartans will need all of the energy and momentum they can get. Coming off of this game will be a great start for them in that department. They will host the re-ignited Tooele Buffaloes today at 7 p.m.

Park City vs. Cottonwood

The Park City Miners marched onto the field at Cottonwood High to play the Colts. They left the place with the win and the Colts in recovery.

They held the Colts to just under 200 yards of offense, while amassing 534 of their own, doing it all without start RB Will McCurdy. They only allowed one rushing touchdown all game, and had a whopping 12 tackles for loss.

Overall, the Colts looked like the typical Colts this game, and are still win-less after this game. There is question if they will win a single game this season. Next game, hey’ll make the grueling trek to Vernal to play Uintah today at 7 p.m.

There is one similarity between these two teams, that similarity being that the Miners and the Colts both looked like they typically do. The Miners have a good chance of going undefeated this season, and will continue their campaign for it when they play the Jordan Beetdiggers today at 7 p.m.

Stansbury vs. Crimson Cliffs

The Stansbury Stallions made a difficult trip down to St. George to play Crimson Cliffs, where they ended up losing badly.

From the defensive stats uploaded by the Mustangs of Crimson Cliffs, the game does not look good. The Stallions allowed 504 total yards of offense defensively.

They didn’t fare well offensively, either, taking 5.5 sacks, 14 tackles for loss, and throwing four interceptions, two from Stallion back-up quarterback Logan Lewis during garbage time.

Overall, the Stallions just couldn’t get it done against the top team in 4A, but are looking forward to coming home this week. They will be playing the Hillcrest Huskies today at 7 p.m. in their Homecoming game.
