The Stansbury Stallions hosted the Hillcrest Huskies for their homecoming football game on Friday, September 29th. They sent them home with their seventh loss in a row, beating them 48-14.

This game was won in the first half, where the Stallions outscored the Huskies 34-7, and then slowed down when they began putting in their back up players, who still put up 14 more points. The stats for this game are pretty impressive as well.

Game Stats

Both teams actually threw for 193 yards. Stansbury’s QB Coleman Dearden completed 12 of his 28 passes for two touchdowns. Hillcrest’s WR Steven Hoskins did it in 14 of his 36 passes and two touchdowns.

The Stallions ran away with the game on the ground. They ran for 269 yards, as opposed to 140 yards from the Huskies. Stansbury had five touchdowns as opposed to Hillcrest’s 0.

Statistically, both teams looked evenly matched on the defensive side, both teams falling one one fumble each, and Hillcrest racking up 12 tackles for loss as opposed to Stansbury’s three. However, this was far from the case. The Stallion’s defense looked superior the entire game.

Player of the Game

My pick for The Hive Sports Player of the Game is Mr. Do-It-All, Luke Daynes of Stansbury. Daynes carried the ball 10 times for 61 yards and three touchdowns. He also racked up 13 tackles, with one tackle for loss and one sack.

Up Next

For the Stallions, their next game will be an away game against the Murray Spartans on Thursday, I repeat, Thursday, at 7 PM.

The Huskies will have a good chance at breaking their losing streak playing their next game, which will be against the Cottonwood Colts on Thursday, I’ll reiterate one more time, Thursday at 7 PM.
