The Stansbury Stallions hosted the Mountain View Bruins for the quarterfinal round of the Utah Class 4A Girls Soccer State Championship Playoffs. They ended the Bruins’ season in a 2-0 victory in impressive fashion.

The game didn’t practically start until the second half. The first half was just full of back and forth, closely missed goals, and lots of frustration.

The second half is where all the action was. Both goals were scored off of corner kicks, the first was by Sophomore Emi Major, who guided the ball into the goal after absolute chaos following Senior Davian Dix’s kick. The second was a beautifully executed play by Senior Abby Holdstock following the kick from Senior Gracee Alders.

Speaking of Alders, she was available for comment after the game. “I think the hardest part about winning the game was just staying composed mentally and keeping up our fight after the second goal,” Alders said. “And then I think that the whole team really just stepped up to play their part for the whole game.”

The Stallions now advance to the Semifinals of the playoffs. Their opponent will be the Park City Miners, who they have played twice this season. The two losses on the Stallions’ 17-2 record are actually both Park City losses. That game will be played on Monday at Zion’s Bank Stadium at 7 PM.
