The regular season in Region 8 has come to a close. Week 10 was important to final region standings and playoff match-ups, so this is your Region 10 recap and playoff preview.

Payson vs. Uintah (17-12)

There’s not really a whole ton to be said about this game, especially since Uintah hasn’t uploaded their stats. The reason this game was so close is thought to be because of Payson missing star QB Kade Edwards. Sophomore Trevyn Wall got the start, and went 25 for 35 on his passes, throwing for 187 yards and one touchdown.

Overall, this game wasn’t anything surprising, and the overall outcome was exactly as predicted. The only noteworthy defensive play was a blocked field goal by the Lions. But don’t worry at all, both teams have made the playoffs.

The Utes finished this season with a 2-8 record, finishing ranked 24th in 4A and 84th in the state, barely scraping their way into the playoffs.

The Lions ended up with a 5-5 record, sitting comfortably while ranked 14th in 4A and 54th in the state.

Provo vs. Mountain View (42-14)

The only thing worth talking about this years game between the Provo Bulldogs and the Mountain View Bruins is how dominant the Bulldogs were on both sides of the ball.

The Bulldogs gained a total of 388 yards and scored four touchdowns offensively. They got the majority of their work done through the air.

Defensively, the Bulldogs won the turnover battle 2-0, both being interceptions returned for touchdowns. Junior Hutch Fale also racked up an insane 17 total tackles throughout the game.

Overall, this looked like a signature Provo win, showing that they are superior in every aspect of the game of football.

The Bruins will have a bad taste in their mouths after their loss to Provo. They currently sit with a record of 3-7 while being ranked 19th in 4A and 82nd in the state.

The Bulldogs have a shot to make a deep playoff run this year, sitting at 8-2 while being ranked 3rd in 4A and 17th in the state.

Salem Hills vs. Bear River (21-7)

The game between the Salem Hills Skyhawks and the Bear River Bears was actually a lot closer of a game than anticipated. The Bears actually gained more yardage than the Skyhawks, but threw two interceptions, which ultimately caused their downfall.

The Skyhawks had two defenders with double digit tackles, Vandin Fusselman with 12 and Alex Cloward with 10.

Overall, the Skyhawk’s defensive ability to create turnovers ultimately won them this game, and put them in better standing for the playoffs.

The Skyhawks went 7-3 this season, and ended up ranked 9th in 4A and 44th in the state.

Timpanogos vs. Spanish Fork (42-34)

The Timpanogos Timberwolves traveled down to Spanish Fork to play the Dons, and ended up leaving in dramatic fashion. The Timberwolves’ prominent air-raid offense was able to propel them to victory.

Timpanogos QB Chase Riggs went 28 for 39 on his passes for an unreal 413 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions. RB Easton Bretzing also stood out, carrying the ball 26 times for 131 yards.

I’m almost certain that Spanish Fork’s stats are impressive, too, I just can’t find them anywhere.

Overall, this game showed what Spanish Fork is truly made of, and once again how dominant Timpanogos can be through the air.

Despite the Dons finishing with a 3-6 record, they were not a bad team. They had a tough region. They ended up ranked 16th in 4A and 50th in the state.

The Timberwolves ended up with a record of 8-2, ranked 4th in 4A and 38th in the state.
