The University of Utah basketball team hosted Central Arkansas (UCA) Thursday night in the Huntsman Center. The Utes started off with a barrage of three-pointers and by pressured UCA to slip on offense. The Bears shot 7 for 30 as the Utes quickly jumped to a 29 point lead before the end of the first half.
Utah senior, Gave Madsen, scored his 1,000th career point and led the Utes in scoring. He finished with 25 points, 4 rebounds and 1 assist. Gabe’s brother Mason put up 15 points along with 3 rebounds. Other players scoring in double digits were East Carolina transfer, Ezra Ausar and San Francisco transfer, “Mongolian” Mike Sharavjamts, who had 13 points each.
The Utes now start off the season with their second straight victory, placing them in first place in the Big XII Conference.
UCA finished out their road trip in the Beehive State with a loss to BYU on Tuesday and now to Utah 63-98.
