Lucky 13

It may have been Friday the 13th, but the unlucky day had no effect on the outcome of the Jazz game last night.  Rodney Hood hit a third quarter buzzer beater from way beyond half court, recorded 10 steals to easily give fans their free McDonald’s chicken nuggets, and defeated the Detroit Pistons by a double digit margin of victory (110-77).

The normally defensive minded team also played well on the offensive side as they had their highest point total of the year 2017. Rodney Hood scored a season high 27 points while shooting almost perfect 7 of 8 from three point range.

On a side note, Derrick Favors recovered from a negative start to score 12 fantasy points compared to only 7 by Detroit forward Tobias Harris. This bodes well for prestigious fantasy owners who have them on their team.

With this win, the Utah Jazz improve to 25-16 at the halfway point in the season. They are on pace to hit the magic 50 win mark that would put them in the playoffs with a possible home court advantage.

Detroit was the second straight win for the Jazz as they also defeated another Eastern Conference team, the defending champion Cleveland Cavaliers. The upcoming schedule looks favorable for the Block Brothers of Swat Lake City as their next three opponents have losing records.

Average teams make excuses. The airport layover, the injuries, forgetting to wear their lucky socks on Friday the 13.

The Jazz aren’t average.
