RSL suffers loss to Whitecaps

Real Salt Lake was defeated 2-1 by the Vancouver Whitecaps at home Saturday night.

by Jose Vidales | The hosts came into the game looking to secure a crucial win but disappointed against Vancouver. Supporters at Rio Tinto Stadium were left stunned as RSL was dominated by the Whitecaps.

David Milinkovic opened by scoring for the Whitecaps with his first goal of the season in the 53rd minute. Shortly after, RSL’s Kyle Beckerman got himself sent off in the 63rd minute — leaving the hosts down to ten men for the remainder of the game.

RSL’s Justin Meram finally scored the equalizer in 81st minute but was swiftly answered by Vancouver’s Lucas Cavallini in the 84th minute.

This result leaves RSL in 11th place (second to last) in the Western Conference standings. RSL’s next match will be at home against the Los Angeles Galaxy on Wednesday night.
