by Daniel Olsen | Panthers were on the prowl on Friday afternoon at 4 PM in St. George. The Bears growled with an early touchdown of their own but ultimately were sent back up to Garland, Utah to hibernate for the winter. Pine View won by a final score of 49 to 7.
The Panther offense was led by receiver Dominique McKenzie who led the team with 112 reception yards and a touchdown. He was the favorite target of Senior quarterback Brayden Bunnell. He threw for 228 yards and had three passing touchdowns on the night. He had a rushing touchdown as well.
Bear River looked like they might challenge the Panthers early on, as the two teams took turns committing costly turnovers. The Bears scored a touchdown in the second quarter but it was all Pine View from there. The Panthers already had 35 points by halftime and did not look back after that.
The Pine View Panthers will host their Region 9 rival in Snow Canyon this Friday. Snow Canyon staved off an upset attempt from Stansbury and won 20-19. The winner of that game will play the winner of the other semifinal game up north. Sky View and Ridgeline will play on Friday for the chance to be the Kings of Cache Valley and earn a trip to the 4A State championship game next Saturday. That game will be played at Dixie State University.
We will be covering games of all classifications and making our predictions later this week. You can catch our predictions for last week’s 4A games here.
