BYU Football 2021 Road Tour: Los Angeles

by Daniel Olsen

This is the second of a six part series detailing the best road games for BYU Football fans to travel to in the 2021 season. Be sure to check out last week’s feature of Las Vegas as well as the ones in the weeks to come.

What is better than spending Thanksgiving with in-laws? The answers may vary. However, for the die-hard BYU Cougars football fan, the answer might be this game. The Cougars will end their regular season on Thanksgiving weekend at the Coliseum to take on the USC Trojans in Los Angeles, California.

Theme Park City

This is the obvious choice for one of the best destinations for this football season. With a plethora of theme parks to choose from, that BYU royal blue will be packing Los Angeles County. Disneyland/California Adventures, Six Flags and Knottsbery Farm are just a few.

Picture Perfect Weather

There are also nice areas along the West Coast such as Venice Beach, Huntington Beach and Long Beach. Balboa Island is a fun tourist destination as well especially for paddle-boarding. The weather is not too shabby at this time of year either. The average high in November is around 73 degrees. If the forecast is clear, it’s hard to find a more beautiful venue for this football game.

Football Destination

This would be the second best game to visit in 2021 only to the neutral site game in Las Vegas against Arizona. That’s because it is in an NFL stadium and a fun tourist destination. The first game of the season is also a fun one. It will be one of many special games in Week 1 to kick off the college football season. For die-hard football fans, that would be the best game.

BYU also has a much better chance to beat Arizona than USC. It also might be tough for fans to want to travel far on Thanksgiving weekend. However, BYU fans near Southern California or fans looking to vacation down there during the break might want to go to the game vs USC as well as pack any of the theme parks down there.

Whether starting BYU’s season in Vegas or ending it in Los Angeles, neither vacation is a bad option. Just know that they will be popular destinations so places may be more crowded with fellow Cougar fans. That can be a fun opportunity though to get to know people with the similar team interest.
