Last week was relatively quiet in Provo with just baseball and softball in action. While there was not too much to watch, the available games were exciting as the two BYU teams combined for a 9-0 record.
The Cougars are getting hot at just the right time, with Tuesday night’s 3-2 win over Dixie State marking the team’s sixth straight victory. The streak is in large part due to last weekend’s sweep of Pepperdine, which saw BYU power home 14 runs across three games.
Next Up: Pacific visits this weekend for a three-game series. Thursday’s 8:00 p.m. MT game will be on ESPNU, Friday’s 6:00 p.m. game can be found on BYU Radio and Saturday’s 1:00 p.m. contest is on television through BYUtv.
This week featured some of the more dominant wins in BYU’s active 14-game winning streak. The Cougars did not allow a run across three games at Pacific while bringing home 24 of their own. That performance was followed by a home game thrashing of in-state foe Utah State. A two-run homer from Violet Zavodnik ended the game on mercy rule, with a 9-1 score in six innings.
Next Up: The final games of the regular season are here before the Cougars learn their NCAA Tournament fate next week. Saint Mary’s visits Provo for a doubleheader on Friday, with both games available on BYUtv. The series concludes with a third game on Saturday.
