Weber State Football: Predicting Defensive Starters

After a somewhat disappointing 2021 campaign for Weber State Football, excitement surrounds the roster which Coach Jay Hill has at his disposal.

Fall camp is in full swing in Ogden, Utah. Although several positional battles remain ongoing, returning anchors such as Cornerback Eddie Heckard are expected to continue the Wildcats stellar defensive play. 

The Defensive End position appears to be the most open, after standouts Logan Lutui (BYU) and George Tarlas (Boise State) both transferred to FBS schools. Transfer Shad Pulsipher (Snow College) has had a strong offseason, while redshirt freshman Brayden Wilson has impressed coaches in training camp. 

Though the past two seasons could be considered as disappointing, the defense has not been the issue. The Wildcats allowed just 19.55 PPG last season, which was good for 19th in all of the Football Conference Subdivision.

The Wildcats open their 2022 campaign at home against DII Western Oregon on September 1st. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
