In a game that was originally planned to be against now-FBS James Madison, The Weber State Wildcats now open their Fall 2022 campaign against DII-Western Oregon.
Roster
Coach Jay Hill and the rest of the staff released the depth chart ahead of the Thursday night opener.
There were a few surprises on the depth chart, mainly coming out of the running back group. Although it was expected that Josh Davis was going to lead the deep running back room, it was generally thought that fellow senior Kevin Smith Jr. would be backing him after returning from injury. Sophomore Damon Bankston has instead been listed as the second option in the backfield.
Game Preview
Western Oregon plays in the Division II – Lone Star Conference, the team struggled to a 4-6 record last fall. The defensive side of the ball had major issues, allowing about 30 points per game. The Wildcats should not have issues moving down the field and this game should provide a good litmus test for how deep the offense position groups are.
Weber State’s strong defense should have no issues in this contest. It will be a good examination of the new pieces along the defensive line.
Prediction
Weber State 55
Western Oregon 7
