The Phoenix capitalized on the excellent scoring opportunity and quarterback Easton Wight found Adam Stucki from 15 yards out to go up 7-0 following Drew Romney’s extra point. Before the Phoenix could finish celebrating the score, the next kickoff saw Fremont star Ridge Whitney take the ball on his 2-yard line and race through the Phoenix kick-off coverage for a game-tying 98-yard touchdown with 8:33 left in the first quarter. Whitney had an outstanding overall game for the Silverwolves, making plays on defense, and special teams, and making catches on offense.

The Phoenix took their next possession down the field and answered with another touchdown pass by Wight, this time to touchdown leader Mitch Nielsen. This was Nielsen’s region-leading 12th touchdown catch on the season to make the score 14-7 after Romney’s extra point.

The Phoenix stretches the lead to 21 points before half

The Phoenix used a Runyon 5-yard jet sweep for a touchdown and a 20-yard pass from Wight to Runyon to close out the half leading 28-7. The third quarter saw both offenses struggle to get any momentum with turnovers and punts stalling drives. The next possession saw Silverwolf linebacker Bubba Koford intercept a Wight pass deep in Farmington territory. The Silverwolve’s drive ended with a Koford 6-yard rushing touchdown to make the score 28-21.
