CEDAR CITY, Utah — It was all Thunderbirds at the first home gymnastics meet of the 2023 season. All four events were won by Southern Utah highlighted and Karley McClain won the all-around competition with a score of 39.475. The final margin of victory was a convincing 196.100-192.875 win by the Flippin’ Birds.
McClain Shines
The Thunderbirds scored at least 49.025 in all but one rotation. Even in the one event where they failed to reach that mark; Floor, McClain shined with a score of 9.900. She also matched that number on Bars. That score was a team-high for the Flippin’ Birds on the night. McClain also scored a 9.850 on Beam.

SUU heads up north to the Maverik Center in West Valley City for the Best of Utah meet. This annual event brings together all four Division I gymnastics teams from around the Beehive State. Utah, BYU, and Utah State also sponsor gymnastics and will be among the teams taking part in this quad meet with the Flippin’ Birds. The action starts Friday night at 7:00 PM.
