Lancers keep it close in the first half
The Utah 6A number 3 ranked team according to MaxPreps used a strong press in the second half to move past the Lancers. The Lancers beat the Silverwolves’ press in the first half by making pinpoint passes and getting the Silverwolves to commit fouls. Defensive rebounding and limiting the Silverwolves to one shot were key in the first quarter for the Lancers.
Fremont held a slim 9-5 lead after the first period that saw many missed shots by both teams. Senior Sierra Eddie made a 3-point shot, and sophomore Kaidance King’s layups helped the Silverwolves to a 20-11 halftime lead. Lancer’s Charly Stevens kept the game close with tough rebounding and defense. Recent Utah State Eastern commit Aly Coombs of Fremont led all scorers in the first half with nine points.
