CEDAR CITY, Utah — Coming off their first WAC loss of the season and seeing a program-record nine-game winning streak end, the lady Thunderbirds are seeking to bounce back. They will face a New Mexico State team that they have beaten once already this season. Southern Utah won a 61-58 thriller in the Pan-American Center on New Year’s Eve. Now they will look to complete the season sweep of the Aggies while wearing throwback jerseys of turquoise and orange.

Last Time Out

The Thunderbirds are on short rest thanks to bad weather extending their stay in Texas. In the second of two games on that road trip, a close game finally clipped the Thunderbirds. Starr Jacobs had a buzzer-beater to end the win streak at 9 in a 60-58 decision. Cherita Daugherty had 20 points to lead the scoring for SUU in the loss.

Scouting the Aggies

Cherita Daugherty had 26 points in the first meeting between these two teams. The Aggies only had two players in double figures in that meeting. Shania Harper and Molly Kaiser led New Mexico State in scoring in that game and will look to turn in yet another impressive performance against the Thunderbirds. Sylena Peterson is another Aggie to keep an eye on average just shy of double figures per game at 9.8.
