OREM, Utah — Just over two weeks ago, Southern Utah scored one of its biggest victories of the season in a packed America First Event Center. In a game that was a tale of two halves, the Thunderbirds soared in the 2nd half to take down Utah Valley 79-67. Now, the Wolverines have a chance to return the favor and pad to their lead on 1st place in the WAC standings. SUU will look to spoil UVU’s homecoming game and complete and improbable season sweep of the Wolverines.

Last Time Out

In a game somewhat similar to the one the Thunderbirds played with UVU in their first meeting this season, SUU got another thrilling come-from-behind victory. Down six points at the half, the Thunderbirds outscored their opponent by 16 points to earn a 72-62 win. In that win over Tarleton, Harrison Butler had a double-double scoring 17 points with 11 rebounds. Drake Allen led all scoring with 19 points and the Thunderbird offense exploded. Tarleton could just not hold down the dam any longer and once it broke, it was all SUU.

How to Sweep the Wolverines Under the Rug

The Thunderbirds will have to do what they have done best all year and that is score. Starting the way that this team finishes will also go a long way in defeating UVU again. Falling into another 10 point hole will be a much tougher one to dig out of on the road than at home. The Wolverines will likely make adjustments on defense to slow down this explosive Thunderbird offense. Depth favors the Wolverines here and they have more help off the bench. Cameron Healy and Dee Barnes are capable of playing well off the bench night in and night out. They will need to be ready to step up in a big moment like this to overcome this disadvantage.
