STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Southern Utah will look to rebound from an 83-89 overtime loss to Abilene Christian on Thursday. They will have a great opportunity to do so as they face the last-place team in the conference. Tarleton currently sits at 1-15 in WAC play having lost 11 straight. All but eliminated from the WAC Tournament, the Thunderbirds will likely find themselves up against a motivated Texan squad. While there is nothing to play for in terms of the postseason, Tarleton would love to go out on a high note in its last two games. Beating the 1st place team in the conference would go a long way in doing that. SUU must be ready for a tough battle as the Texans only fell to the Thunderbirds 48-55 earlier in the season.
Last Time Out
The pressure seemed to have gotten to SUU in the loss at Abilene Christian. The defense could not stop a 34-point performance from Wildcat Maleeah Langstaff. The Thunderbirds now find themselves needing to be winners of two of their last three to secure a share of the WAC regular season title. The schedule does no favors as Cal Baptist and Grand Canyon are on deck after Saturday. Thankfully, both games are at home for SUU.
Dodge the Texan Trap
Teresa Da Silva will be a key player for Tarleton to have a legitimate shot at the upset. The Thunderbirds only allowed 14 points from her in their first meeting. She will need to be kept at bay yet again on Saturday as well as Tyler Jackson. Jackson had 15 points for the Texans in the game at the America First Event Center.
