Weber State Utah Tech Preview
The Weber State Wildcats are off to St. George to partake in the Utah Tech Tournament. The ‘Cats gained traction in their circuit at the Littlewood Classic and look to find more success back in their home state of Utah.
The tournament consists of four games for Weber State, playing two games against the Saint Louis Billikens and the Utah Tech Trailblazers between Saturday, February 25, and Sunday, February 26.
Saturday 11 am MST
Saint Louis at Weber State
The 2-7 Billikens are a more impressive team than their roster indicates. Like the Wildcats, who sport a 3-7 record, Saint Louis has played competitively in the early season. Though they have not found much success in the win column, the Billikens have gone toe-to-toe in almost all their contests in their first couple of tournaments. Of their seven losses, five have been one-run games, with the other two being blowout losses. While Saint Louis’ competition hasn’t quite been as strong as Weber State’s, they are slated to have decent bouts in the two games since they have each played close with their opponents.

Weber State at Utah Tech
The Trailblazers are another animal for Weber State to face this weekend. Utah Tech is 7-5 amid the tournament named for their school and poses a threat to the Wildcats and their talented roster. It has been rare for the Trailblazers to be blown out in any contest this season, losing 10-2 to Boise State at the San Diego Tournament, so expect a close battle between these rosters as well. Utah Tech doesn’t have as high expectations as Weber State, though, picked to finish eighth in the conference in the preseason.

Saint Louis at Weber State
Same time, same place. The Wildcats continue their tournament with another battle against Saint Louis. Without games on Friday, Weber State should be fully rested and ready to battle.

Weber State at Utah Tech
As with Saint Louis, the ‘Cats will face off against Utah Tech at the same time and in the same place. It will be a bit of Deja Vu with identical days on Saturday and Sunday for Weber State, but they look to leave the weekend with a winning record between the four games.
With a couple of wins at the Utah Tech Tournament, the Wildcats could find themselves sitting pretty before conference play begins.
