After losing their first three games, the Warriors have now won two straight heading into region play. The Lancers made the game close with a final drive that would have tied the game but came up short on a great defensive stand by the Warriors.

First quarter

Leading the Lancers is senior quarterback and Brigham Young University commit Carson Suesue. Granger started their first drive by calling two timeouts and looked to adjust to Weber’s defensive look. Senior running back Jordan Tu’uao was the featured player on the drive with runs up the middle of the Warrior’s defense.

The game’s first score came on a Tu’uao 2-yard rushing touchdown with 8:05 on the clock. After the first quarter, the Lancers held a 7-0 lead. Suesue set up the score with a 15-yard run up the middle to get the ball inside the five-yard line.

The Lancers moved the ball near midfield on their next possession, but a holding penalty stalled the drive. Attempting to punt on fourth down, the Lancer’s kick was blocked by Warriors senior Tyler Payne. The blocked punt set up the Warriors deep in Lancer territory. The Warriors capitalized on the Lancers miscue, with junior kicker Alex Johnson making a 27-yard field goal. The score now was 10-7, with the Warriors in the lead.

A fumble ended the Lancer’s drive, and the momentum was back on the Warriors’ side.

The Warriors took advantage of the turnover and drove into Lancer territory and scoring position. Warriors quarterback, junior Crew Cacciacarne found a good rhythm by completing passes to senior Tyson Higgs, Ian Elmore, and sophomore Salesi Moa. The running game started to open, with speedy sophomore Dyson Parker gaining yards on inside runs.
