Daily Dribble: Jazz bounce back to get revenge on Pelicans

The Utah Jazz defeated the New Orleans Pelicans 127-105.

The Crossover: Utah Jazz by the Numbers

To get the offensive momentum going, Donovan Mitchell gave a skip pass to Mike Conley for an open three-point shot.

The Jazz opened the first quarter on an 11-8 run.

The Jazz defended the three-point line early, stopping the Pelicans from making a three-point shot. However, they struggled to defend inside of the arc. On the other hand, the Pelicans couldn’t stop the Jazz.

Bojan Bogdanovic drove for the layup and converted a three-point play after being fouled on the shot. On the very next possession, Mitchell came up the court and sank a shot from deep to extend the lead to 30-14 with three minutes left in the quarter. The first quarter ended with the Jazz leading 37-23.

To open the second quarter, Joe Ingles made a shot beyond the arc to begin the Jazz offense.

The Jazz extended the lead to 62-41 with two minutes to go before the end of the first half and ended the half up 64-45.

With eight minutes in the third quarter, Bogdanovic used his basketball IQ to find Conley in the corner for the three. The Jazz went up 77-50. The Jazz went on an 11-8 run with four minutes left in the third quarter.

With less than two minutes to go, Clarkson missed a layup, but got the offensive rebound for second-chance points. The third quarter ended with a Jazz 29 point lead.

Traveling: Jazz end doubleheader with Pelicans on High Note

Opening the fourth quarter, the Jazz went on a 14-5 run to go up 110-72.

To get the Jazz offense started, they turned defense into offense by making the Pelicans turn the ball over. In transition, Rudy Gay passed to Clarkson who got fouled in the act of shooting but still drained the shot.

The Pelicans could not stop the Jazz offense for the remainder of the game.

The Daily Double-Double

Mitchell led the Jazz with 21 points while Conley and Clarkson both had 20 points. While Gobert had a modest line of eight rebounds and six points, Mitchell was just three assists and three rebounds shy of a triple double. Royce O’Neale was out due to a right foot/ankle sprain.

The Jazz will be facing Damian Lillard and the Portland Trailblazers on November 29, 2021 at 7:00 p.m MST.
