After the Tooele Buffaloes’ frustrating 25-0 loss to the Cyprus Pirates, Brock Thrall and I talked about him and Tooele. Thrall is a Junior Defensive End, and one of the only returning starters for the Buffaloes. He had quite a bit to say about him and his young team.
How long have you been playing football?
“I started playing football when I was five.” Thrall said. “starting with flag football. When I was eight, I started playing little league tackle football.”
What made you choose to play on the Defensive Line?
“From little league, I was always above the weight limit,” Thrall stated. “so I was forced to play on the line. But I started to train and I fell in love with playing DE.”
How long have you been playing varsity?
“I started playing varsity my Freshman year,” Thrall said.
How do you feel about your performance in the last game?
“I gave it everything I had, but I wish I could have done more,” Thrall said with a sigh.
What does the team need to do to bounce back against Bonneville?
“The team just needs to learn from our mistakes,” Thrall started. “and play with more team unity.
How do you feel about the team’s potential moving forward?
“We are a very young team with only two returning starters,” Thrall said. “[We are] Running a new offense and defense. We certainly have a lot of untapped potentials.”
Thrall is disappointed with the team’s loss to the Pirates but he understands the growing pains that come with large system replacements. He is hopeful for his young team this season, as they move into the regular season. Until then, the Buffaloes will be tasked with defending against the Bonneville Lakers on August 19th at 7 PM in Tooele.
Thrall was also featured on The Hive Sports Podcast, which can be found here.
