Interview with Stansbury LB Easton Baker

by AJ Conlin

Junior Linebacker Easton Baker plays for the Stansbury Stallions. He has been playing varsity his entire high school career. Baker is committed to BYU and has been since his freshman year. After the 43-20 victory over the Ridgeline Riverhawks, the Stansbury star had plenty to say. It’s time to go over the answers to the questions he was asked.

How long have you been playing football?

“I’ve been playing football since I was seven years old.” Baker said.

Why are you a linebacker?

“I originally was a safety,” Baker said. “But I always would fly up to make tackles, so they moved me to linebacker. It was probably a good move.”

How do you feel you performed individually against the Riverhawks?

“I feel I played pretty good,” Baker said, “But I have not reached my full potential yet. On film, I saw some things I could improve on.”

How did the team do against Ridgeline?

“Solid,” Baker said. “I believe we should have done a lot better as a team.”

How are you feeling about the team’s upcoming game vs Skyline?

“Skyline is legit,” Baker stated. “I’m just going to focus on my specific assignments. I’m always looking for a turnover.”

How do you feel about the team’s potential moving forward?

“Everyone is telling us that this is the best Stansbury team they have ever seen,” Baker said. “I think if we stay healthy, we could have a special year.”

As with any team, improvement is what is needed for the Stallions to be successful. Baker is optimistic that his team will make the improvements necessary to go all the way to the State Championship. For now, Stansbury is taking it game by game. Easton Baker and the Stallions will return to play against the Skyline Grizzlies on August 26, 2022 at 8 p.m. MT in Rexburg, Idaho.
