by AJ Conlin

After the Stansbury Stallions’ 43-20 win over the Ridgeline Riverhawks, I quickly talked to Senior Linebacker Michael Geovjian. We briefly talked about him and the Stansbury football team. Here’s what he wanted to say:

How long have you been playing football?

“10 years,” Geovjian said.

Why did you pick Linebacker?

“Freshman year,” Geovjian said. “I was too small for the line, so I decided to play linebacker.”

How long have you been playing varsity?

“I played varsity freshman year,” Geovjian said. “I was one of the few freshman, so four years.”

How do you feel you performed individually against the Riverhawks?

“It was good,” Geovjian said. “It was sloppy, but we got the job done.”

How did the team do against Ridgeline?

“The team did good,” Geovjian said. “I’m proud of my boys. They stepped up to the plate and won with a comfortable lead. It was a good game.”

Who stood out tonight?

“Definitely Teaki (Mateaki Helu),” Geovjian said. “Him and Hammy (Dylan Hamilton). They got that dog in them.”

How do you feel about the team’s potential moving forward?

“I think we can go undefeated,” Geovjian said. “It’s too early to talk about playoffs, but I think we can go undefeated this season.”

Michael Geovjian has high hopes and expectations for his team this year. He believes that through much hard work, Stansbury could be a big contender. The Stallions will continue their quest for an undefeated season against the Skyline Grizzlies on August 26, 2022 at 8 p.m. in Rexburg, Idaho.
