The Tooele Buffaloes’ Girls Soccer team traveled across town to take on the Stansbury Stallions. With the Stallions at 8-2, and the Buffaloes at 1-8, both teams were looking for a big rivalry win. The Stallions ended up enacting the mercy rule with 20 minutes left in the second half. Here’s how the game went:
Stallion score 1-0
At 31:10 the defender kicked the ball, but #3 Brinley Jensen was in the way. It bounced off of her torso and into the goal.
Stallion score 2-0
At the 29:13 mark, the Stallions kicked the ball from the corner, and it bounced off someone’s head and into the goal.
Stallion score 3-0
26:12 #2 Lacey Ajax kicked the ball into the goal from 23 yards out, pushing the Stallion’s lead even further.
Stallion score 4-0
13:12 Jordy Collins found the ball at her feet and kicked it into the goal from 5 yards out.
Stallion score 5-0
Stansbury had another kick into the goal from 17 yards out later in the first half.
Stallion score 6-0
#7 Abby Holdstock had the next point after hitting the ball off her chest and into the goal from a corner kick.
Stallion score 7-0
Stansbury kicked the ball into the goal from 8 yards out yet again just before halftime.
Stallion score 8-0
19:48 The Stallions caused an enactment of the mercy rule after a long goal shot sneaked past Tooele Keeper Brooklyn Trussell.
When all was said and done, the Stallions advanced to 9-2 during this spectacular season, while the Buffaloes were sent packing, pushing their record to 1-9. The Stallions will return to action vs Payson on Monday, September 12th at 3:30 PM in Stansbury. The Buffaloes’ next game will also be against Payson on Thursday, September 8th at 3:30 PM in Payson.
