Although his pro career was more illustrious, his college career was still great and set BYU up for a National Championship run when Robbie Boscoe went under Center following Steve’s graduation.
Vote for Steve if you’re a fan of a true underdog story. While initially struggling at throwing the football, Steve was persistent despite coach attempts to use his athleticism for defensive back. With Young under Center, BYU set an NCAA record by averaging 584.2 total yards per game. He finished his season 11-1 with a Holiday Bowl win to top it off. BYU was definitely the QBU in the 1980s and Steve was a big reason why.

Chris led the NCAA in receptions by a tight end in his senior season at Utah State. Do not count him out because of the poor performance of Utah State Football at the time. He caught the football when it was thrown to him and added as much value to the team as he could. He proved his talent at the next level as well.
